At the beginning of the year of Snake, the Think Playgrounds team, together with experts in ecology and urban planning from Hanoi and Bangkok, met at Benjakitti Park, a symbol of regenerating native ecosystems on the site of an old industrial heritage. This is a very useful and reflective case study on the urbanization process in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, what is the choice for the future of the city? Should the factories in the center be converted into shopping malls, high-rise buildings or become public spaces? Can concrete become forests, ecological restoration places, biosphere reserves and the center for dealing with flooding in the city? All these questions, we want to look at Benjakitti park to find the answer in the future projects that we are doing in cities in Vietnam.
