IMPROVING TRAFFIC SAFETY FOR CHILDREN AND PEDESTRIANS ON GIA THƯỢNG STREET (HÀ NỘI)

In December 2025, the traffic improvement initiative on Gia Thượng Street was implemented by the Hà Nội Department of Construction, with the support of the (former) People’s Committee of Long Biên District, the (current) People’s Committee of Bồ Đề Ward, and Residential Group No 19 Ngọc Thuỵ, along with professional support from HealthBridge Vietnam, Think Playgrounds, Heritage Art Space social enterprise, artist Felix Dreesen (Germany), and the Hà Nội Association of Architects. The traffic plan aims to reduce car speeds, prevent unregulated parking, expand pedestrian walkways and safety zones, and provide safe access to public spaces for pedestrians, especially children.

PHÚ NGHĨA INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND – A MEANINGFUL CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR THE COMMUNITY

On 7 December 2025, at the Cultural House of Phú Nghĩa Village, Thạch Thất Commune (Hà Nội), an inclusive playground for children was officially inaugurated and handed over to the community. The playground was designed and built by Think Playgrounds, with sponsorship from Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy (A&K). This is a special Christmas gift for the local parish and community, where recreational facilities for children remain limited. Over 30 children came to play and celebrate at the inauguration, while the community and volunteers joined hands to paint and add the finishing touches to the playground.

UNICEF Việt Nam visited Phú Châu Commune Children’s Home in Vật Lại Commune (formerly Ba Vì District), Hà Nội and supported the renovation at the centre with Think Playgrounds. Together, the team repainted the playground equipment and the hopscotch game on the ground, sanitised and repainted the iron gate and the walls, cleaned up the ground and windows, prepared raised beds for growing vegetables and potted plants around the center. Phú Châu Children’s Home is a nurturing home for children from deprived backgrounds, founded and run by YWAM Mercy Vietnam.

POP-UP PLAYGROUND AND ECOLOGY-THEMED WORKSHOP AT HÀ NỘI CREATIVE DESIGN FESTIVAL 2026

Think Playground’s pop-up playground was placed on Hoàn Kiếm Lake Walking Street during the Hà Nội Creative Design Festival 2026’s “Creativity Unites” launching event. The play equipment made of recycled, sustainable materials sparked joy among children and adults alike, painting the event with childlike wonders. Our workshop introduced and identified native plants and wild birds at the Red River bank areas, attracting many children. Children and parents alike gained a deeper understanding of nature and their surrounding environment, while also discovering their artistic potential and bonding through the joy of creativity!

PROTECTING CHILDHOOD SPACES IN THE CITY

Think Playgrounds continues to maintain the play spaces at Hà Nội’s Thăng Long Imperial Citadel relic site and Nghĩa Tân Ward Sports Centre after five years of operation. COMMUNITY RAISES FUNDS TO REPAIR FLOATING HOUSES FOR DISADVANTAGED FAMILIES

As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, volunteers from Air Liquide Vietnam helped repair the floating house for Mr Đỗ Minh Tuấn with technical support from Think Playgrounds. The repaired house is now secure and sturdy to improve the living environment for Mr Tuấn’s family.

To date, 10 households have been renovated and rebuilt in total. However, there are still 11 households living in houses severely damaged from the historic typhoon Yagi in 2024 and the floods in 2025 in need of community support to repair their houses.
